I contacted Steve Murphy at the end of May about two cabinet doors for the front of my pantry. I sent him pictures of the original doors that had broken and asked for a quote on two custom doors to replace my old ones. He quoted me $35-$70 per door depending on the type of wood needed and the stain match. $35 per door being on the low end and $70 per door being on the high end. I met with him in the beginning of June to drop off the original door to use as a reference. Upon our meeting, he said he would have them finished in about 7-10 days and didn’t mention there being any difference in the original quote per door after seeing it in person. I reached out to him coming up on 10 days since I dropped off the door and he hadn’t even started on them yet. Through the entire process we were more than patient with Mr. Murphy. Close to two months went by before we were finally were able to pick up only 2 cabinet doors. When I asked him how much I owed him for the doors, he then stated that it would be $200 for the doors. Not only did it take a week shy of 2 months to complete the doors when we were told a turnaround time of 7-10 days, but he then went well above the original quote. He wanted to claim with the time it took to complete them and the materials, that was a fair price. He completely disregarded the fact that it too TWO MONTHS to complete two cabinet doors when we were told 7-10 days. Every time I had contacted Steve about my doors he had yet to even start on them so I know it did not take 2 months to complete them. I would not recommend working with him. Yes, the doors turned out nicely, but it is obviously that jobs are not completed in the time they are received but in order of what he feels holds the highest priority. If you need anything done in a timely manner, this is not business to go with. If you are told 7-10 days, you can tack on another month to that before you receive your product and you can expect the price to be well over the original quote.
